While most of us experience pain and discomfort at various parts of our body, the most commonly affected area is the muscles and joints. Muscle pain often presents itself when we overexert our muscles from exercising or strenuous work. While these symptoms and discomfort often affect adults, children can experience them too.

Kids can be affected by muscle pain and discomfort too.

Among the causes of muscle pain and discomfort include tension or stress in various parts of the body, sprains and strains due to injury and overstretching of muscles and ligaments as a result of strenuous exercise without warming up properly. Prolonged activity can also lead to aches and pain, such as sitting in front of the computer or TV in the same position for too long.

Before exercising, apply some Cap Lang or Eagle Brand Muscular Balm to warm up and prevent muscle cramps.

Tips to relieve muscle aches and pain

1. Rest

It is best to take things slow and easy for the next few days until you feel better. During this time, you should not overexert your muscles and joints by exercising, stretching or flexing your joints through complicated bending movements.

2. Rub for relief

Apply external analgesic like the Cap Lang Balsem Otot or Eagle Brand Muscular Balm which can be purchased at any pharmacies, medical halls, supermarkets, hypermarkets or petrol kiosks in Malaysia.

Apply a warm balm, such as the Cap Lang Balsem Otot or Eagle Brand Muscular Balm

Made from a traditional formulation of natural ingredients, the Cap Lang Balsem Otot or Eagle Brand Muscular Balm provides a stronger heat effect which gives you a soothing heating sensation, even hours after application. Place a warm towel over the affected area that has been massaged with the muscular balm after one to two hours to prolong the heat effect which helps to soothe and relieve muscle aches.

Massage the affected area with the Cap Lang Balsem Otot or Eagle Brand Muscular Balm. For better results, combine the use with Eagle Brand Eucalyptus oil (Minyak Kayu Putih). This is available in 30 ml or 60 ml and can be purchased from any pharmacy in Malaysia.

3. Warm up

Use a warm up balm such as the Cap Lang Balsem Otot or Eagle Brand Muscular Balm before doing any exercises. This will help to improve blood circulation and reduce cramps and muscle aches while you exercise.

4. Soothe and cool

For quick relief of muscle injuries, place an ice pack over the affected area to bring down the swelling. After which, you can apply the Cap Lang Balsem Otot or Eagle Brand Muscular Balm and Eucalyptus Oil to ease the pain and tension.

5. Call your doctor

It is best to seek medical advice if your muscle pain persists beyond 3 days and you experience any of the following symptoms:

– Signs of infection such as swelling or redness

– Poor circulation in the area where you have muscle aches (for example, in your legs)

– You have a tick bite or a rash in the affected area
