Do You Know What's In Your Child's Milk?
This video tells us why it's important to always check the nutrition label!
Have you absentmindedly bought something without reading the food labels? Many consumers often buy products that have been trusted brands in their families for generations – no questions asked especially about the milk content!
We just don’t really concern ourselves with reading the labels and to question what we’re really consuming. We just load up our shopping carts and cash out.
Milk Content: What’s In Your Milk?
According to the latest statistics from the National Health Morbidity Survey (NHMS 2015) as quoted in the report, more than 7% of children in Malaysia under 5 had been identified as overweight.
The recommended amount of sugar intake for children aged 2- 6 years old is no more than 3 teaspoons of added sugars. For children aged 7 – 10 years old, no more than 4 teaspoons of added sugars a day. However, Malaysian pre-schoolers are consuming an average of 7.6 teaspoons of sugar daily. That is a lot of sugar!
These alarming statistics prompted one of the leading brands in formulated milk powder for children, Anmum Essential to kick start a campaign to encourage parents to read food labels before purchasing. To find out what is in the milk that they give their kids every day. Watch the video below:
Anmum Essential hopes to aid parents in making a more informed decision in purchasing the most suitable and healthy option for their children.
Added Sugars
So what is causing our up and coming youngsters to be obese?
Added sugars, or hidden sugars, disguised behind attractive packaging that “promises” a healthier option, until you actually read the labels.
Do not be easily influenced by marketing claims companies can conjure up to persuade you to buy their products. Instead, look out for: Fructose, Brown Sugar, Maltodextrin, Dextrose, Sucrose, Corn Syrup Solids, Glucose Syrup Solids, and White Sugar. Despite being named differently, these are all sugars still.
New food labels showing “added sugars” are underway. Until then, parents really need to start skimming food labels to identify actual sugar content before buying.
So… what’s in the milk?
Anmum Essential is the formulated milk powder for children with absolutely NO added sugars. It contains all the important nutrients for your growing child including key brain nutrients GA® and DHA.
