Are your dark underarms preventing you from wearing sleeveless outfits? You don’t have to go for expensive treatments and creams—with some household items, you can whiten your underarms naturally!
Here are some effective ingredients:
Baking soda
Dark underarms can be caused by dead skin cells, and baking soda is an excellent exfoliant. Take a few tablespoons of baking soda and mix it with some water to create a thick paste. Gently rub into your armpit in a circular motion. Do this 3-4 times a week.
Turmeric
Turmeric is an antioxidant that has been used as a key ingredient for toning and whitening skin. Turmeric prevents excessive secretion of melanin, but when using home remedies containing turmeric, try to stay away from direct sunlight because it can lead to sunburn and dark spots.
Potato, Lemon, and Cucumber
These ingredients are mild natural bleaching agents. Take a thin slice of potato/cucumber or a wedge of lemon and rub it on your underarms. Alternatively, you could also juice the potato/lemon/cucumber, add a dash of turmeric, and pat the juice onto the area. Leave it to dry for 15-20 minutes then wash off with lukewarm water. Do this twice daily for better results.
Milk and Honey
Milk has been used for hundreds of years to lighten the skin. It also hydrates, exfoliates, and soothes skin. Honey is full of antioxidants, and is also moisturizing and soothing. Take a tablespoon of milk and honey, mix in a some turmeric powder or lime juice, and apply to your underarms.
Coconut oil
Coconut oil is one of the most commonly used remedies for skin lightening. Before taking a bath every day, apply coconut oil to the affected areas. You can also add mix baking soda and coconut oil and rub gently into the skin.
