Our 6 year old preschooler have been sleeping in her own room since she was 4. Though we still co-sleep with our younger 2 year old, I’ve been toying with the idea of moving her from our bed to her own bed. I have long sold off her cot because she is a born climber and the cot we owned was a very basic cot that was easy to climb out of. She was also showing a lot of independence already: always wanting to explore on her own.

Children Custom Made Beds

Toddler beds and children beds are crazy expensive. Especially if you get those cute custom made ones. or play house beds as they call them. They can range anything from RM500 to RM5,000 and honestly I am not about to fork out that much money for something so temporary. Even if I were to buy a child sized bed, what would I do with it when she transitions to a single? And if I bought a regular single bed, I would still have to buy these bed rails .

Sleeping on the floor is nothing alien or new to us. In fact I slept on floor beds a lot too as a kid. But let’s face it, having a plain old mattress on the floor and in the corner with nothing else can look pretty boring.

This option can be a much cheaper option than buying a whole new bed and bed rails. We simply put a mattress on the floor and just like that, you have a floor bed. If you husband is handy with tools, together with the money you saved from NOT buying a whole new bed, both of you can get creative and decorate a corner without breaking the bank.

Just look at some of these floor bed ideas! I’m really loving these ultra modern monochromatic theme:
