Since the RMCO started, travelling domestically has been on everyone’s minds. But it is still very important for us to adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOP) set out by the government for our family’s safety.
Recently, we travelling to Paya Beach Spa & Dive Resort in Tioman Island and they follow a strict SOP that we really appreciated.

Whether you’re going as a family or as a couple on honeymoon or even as friends, the resort has many room types to offer. There are beach villas, deluxe sea-facing chalets, standard chalets built quaintly around a pond and also standard rooms for budget visitors.
Families will love coming to the island and staying at this resort because you never have to leave the resort and there is always plenty of entertainment from day to night.
From the activities hall near the dining area with foosball table and darts machines to the swimming pool, to the beach volleyball by the ocean, to the playground, to the dive centre and snorkelling… there’s just so much to do and so little time!
Even though we spent 4 days and 3 nights on the island, we really couldn’t fit in everything we wanted to do. We really ought to have stayed longer!
MCO Travel: Safe for the family
What I feel was one of the most important things about our trip was SOP for the new normal. With the number of cases of COVID on the rise again, we need to ensure SOP is adhered to.
Paya Beach Spa and Dive Resort certainly does that.
The buffet table for lunch and dinner only serves guests who wear their masks and servers will dish out the food rather than let the guests take the food on their own. Masks are also required to be worn around the resort at all times.
This is great because the food is not at risk of being contaminated.
We also saw the staff wearing masks all the time, sanitising all the surfaces often and making sure the guests were also complying with regulations.
Additionally, during check-in, the floors were demarcated with tape to encourage social distancing and even though we all had to check-in and take our temperature upon check-in, the check-in process was super quick and easy.
In fact, we were checked-in in under 10 minutes! That’s what I call efficiency.

1. The wildlife
If your kids love monkeys, birds and even monitor lizards, the resort has its resident wildlife for your kids to observe and enjoy on a daily basis. If you stay in a standard chalet by the pond, you’ll experience this every morning when you wake up.
2. The activities
Besides the pool and the playground, snorkelling activities are arranged by the resort daily. You can take a boat out to the reserved marine park to snorkel and marvel at the aquatic life.
3. The beach is private
You get a stretch of beach to yourself here so the kids can frolic and play in the sand and sea all day if they want to. You don’t have to worry about outside strangers disrupting their play time. The resort is also located on one of the quieter sides of Tioman, so things are more laidback here compared to Tekek.
4. They provide cots for babies
This is surprisingly rare for many resorts. So it’s good for you to bring your kids here if you’re looking for a safe sleeping space for them.
