I’m sure I don’t have to reiterate the stuff that happens after having kids like the odd stretch marks, constant exhaustion, or the walking “milk” cow for your kids. I’m sure you’ve read a fair share of mummy horror stories by now.
But how about some other more subtle changes, like how you use your smartphone for instance. I mean, we’re Asians. We almost can’t live without our phones, even prior kids.
Phone usage before and after kids:
So now with mini yous in the mix, what has changed for you? Phone-wise?
#1 On The Road
BEFORE KIDS: I would just drive around and figure my way around. Jam sucks but that’s okay, I have great music to listen to.
AFTER KIDS: I strap in, power up Waze and find my shortest, fastest route home. Never mind how many tolls because this happens!
#2 Alarms
BEFORE KIDS: I would set multiple alarms to make sure I get up on time for work.
AFTER KIDS: I don’t need alarms because my kids are my alarm! And it doesn’t matter if I haven’t slept in for 6 years now!
#3 Bathroom Trips
BEFORE KIDS: I took my phone into the bathroom, toilet texting while doing my business.
AFTER KIDS: I take my phone into the bathroom to pass time with someone else in the the toilet enjoying the smell.
#4 U-Rated Pictures
BEFORE KIDS: I would take romantic couple pictures while on vacation and on special occasions.
AFTER KIDS: Family picture, oh that’s one of me with one of the daughters, family picture again. You get the idea.
#5 Photo Library Capacity
BEFORE KIDS: My photo library was full, because I am vain.
AFTER KIDS: Now my photo library is full, because my toddler took 500 selfies of the side of her head and varying unidentified parts of her face. I also took another 100 pictures of my toddler today.
#6 Rrrriiiiiinnng-riiiiingggg
BEFORE KIDS: When my phone rang at 10:30 pm, it meant friends were picking me up for an all-nighter of drink and dancing.
AFTER KIDS: Ring? What ring? It’s permanently on silent! If its anything important, just Whatsapp me! I’ll read it on my own due time.
#7 Phone Extras
BEFORE KIDS: I would change my phone covers to cute, pretty looking ones and changed them to fit my mood. With the period checker being the most important app.
AFTER KIDS: I have a dedicated page full of baby apps and my phone is in an anti-shock, impact protection case. Better still if it’s waterproof.
