KUALA LUMPUR, 31 May 2024 – This Hari Raya Haji, fans of both fashion and sweet treats will be swooning over an unparalleled fusion of both as Malaysia’s leading homegrown lifestyle café chain, Secret Recipe, collaborates with renowned local clothing brand, Bayu Somerset.
Launched today, the collaboration introduces a stunning collection of traditional Malay outfits inspired by the exquisite flavours of Secret Recipe’s cake collection. This exclusive collaboration celebrates the notion that life’s sweetness comes not only from cakes but also from fashion.
The Bayu Somerset x Secret Recipe collection features an enticing array of clothing and accessories. Each piece echoes Secret Recipe’s iconic cakes and perfectly matches the cute, bright and vibrant looks for which Bayu Somerset is renowned.
“At Secret Recipe, we believe that there is a lot of beauty in tradition, which has inspired our Malaysian journey thus far. Now, we take tradition to another level. Our collaboration with Bayu Somerset is a harmonious blend of elegance and taste, showcasing the timeless charm of traditional Malay outfits alongside our cake collection.
Together, we create a touch of culture and culinary excellence that adds luxury to every moment,” said Evelyn Lee, Head of Marketing at Secret Recipe.
This collaboration blends the quirkiness of Bayu Somerset’s aesthetics with the sweetness of cakes, creating an irresistibly cute collection. It encompasses five categories, from traditional clothing to head accessories — each featuring designs that reflect the delicate layers of Secret Recipe’s cakes with fun and funky twists, making each garment stand out from the ordinary.
The simple but timeless Baju Kurung Kedah comes in three designs, including the earthy and light Pandanlicious; the elegant Berrylicious; and the simple White Forest design. Meanwhile, the Baju Kebaya is a classic with a modern twist, which comes in the intricate Confetti design with Nadi Embroidery; a more striking Black Forest with cherries subtly printed; and lastly, a sophisticated Green Pea Kebaya completed with vibrant bold patterns.
Fans of the more contemporary Modern Kurung can get the Tallulah set in a gorgeous Wild Blueberry design or the more alluring Red Velvet. The sizes of the pieces range from XXS to 5XL for adults available from RM149 onwards; and sizes 1 to 12 for kids priced between RM129 and RM149.
The Baju Kurung collection pairs perfectly with the collection’s Square Scarf, at RM49 per piece which comes in Red Velvet or Confetti designs, or a Scrunchie which comes in all designs at RM15 for a complete head-to-toe look.
With this collection, Bayu Somerset mirrors the celebratory spirit of cakes by infusing each pattern with elements like cakes, candles, and whimsical flowers. This blend of festive motifs and quirky designs highlights how fashion can also embody the sweetness and joy of life, bringing a sense of celebration to every wardrobe.
