Moms, Here Are 7 Best Baby Shampoo Brands For Toddlers' Smooth & Health Hair

Take care of your child's hair at bath time with the best baby shampoo in the market. Not sure which one to choose? Here are our 7 favourite brands!

For the little one, the mother wants to choose the best baby shampoo that is gentle and best for the child. Unlike adults, small babies need different attention in hair care because babies’ skin is thinner, smoother, and more sensitive.

Therefore, parents need to get it is important for parents to get the best baby shampoo that is suitable for the child.

The average parent may notice that bath soap and baby shampoo usually come in the same bottle.

This is because it makes it easier for you to rinse your baby with just 1 of the same product, let alone a baby with a small body, so much a product is a more economical option.

Choosing the Best Baby Shampoo

best baby shampoo

It’s crucial to keep your baby’s scalp clean with a mild, moisturising shampoo, whether he’s born bald or with a full head of hair. Although your favourite shampoo may give you gorgeous locks, the chemicals in it may be too harsh for your baby’s skin.

Baby shampoos are made with gentler components than adult shampoos, so they won’t hurt a child’s eyes or skin.

It is recommended to look for solutions that include natural, plant-based substances such as:

  • Rich fruit oils such as raspberry and avocado oils.
  • Extract of chamomile
  • Sunflower seed oil.

Besides that, for the good of the little one, before buying shampoo for the baby, parents should not forget to check a few things first.

A good selection of shampoo for a child who is less than 2 years old in particular should

adhere to the following characteristics.

  • Baby-safe content: Adult shampoos and body washes typically include parabens, phthalates, and sulphates, which can irritate or even hurt your baby’s skin. For bathtime, it’s best to stick to baby-specific or sensitive-skin products.
  • Soft and suitable for a baby’s delicate skin: While additional perfumes may smell great, some of them may irritate and dry up sensitive skin. Many products employ essential oils or plant extracts to generate natural scents, but they can still irritate delicate skin. Always try a small quantity of any product with additional fragrance before applying it to your baby’s whole body.
  • Does not hurt the eyes: The term “tear-free" refers to the lack of eye-irritating chemicals. So, if the shampoo/body wash you purchase doesn’t claim to contain a tear-free formula, use caution around your baby’s eyes.

Furthermore, avoid shampoos that contain harsh chemicals that may hurt your baby’s skin. These are some of them:

  • Chemicals used as preservatives in cosmetics are known as parabens.
  • Phthalates, or compounds found in plastic, are a kind of phthalate.
  • Sulfates, particularly sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS), a frequent ingredient in home cleaners
  • Added perfumes or scents, which might irritate the skin or produce an allergic reaction.

When can I start washing my baby’s hair?

You can wash your baby’s hair as soon as he or she is born. A nurse will give your infant their first wash in the hospital to clean their skin before clothing them.

After you go home from the hospital, you might be afraid to wash your baby’s hair. It is, however, nothing to be concerned about if you follow a few simple guidelines.

Newborns don’t need to be bathed every day, and their hair only needs to be washed around twice a week. Even if your infant has very little hair, it is still necessary to gently cleanse the scalp to remove excess oil.

You may just use a washcloth and water to clean your baby’s hair in between washes if you think it’s needed. Wet the cloth, rinse it out, then clean your baby’s hair carefully. Until the next shampoo session, this should suffice.

How to safely wash my baby’s hair?

Washing your toddler’s hair properly can be a challenging task to do if you don’t know how to go about it. Here are a few tips on how you can safely wash a baby’s hair:

  • Because your baby’s head and scalp are fragile and tender, be gentle when washing his hair. A simple sponge may be used to do this.
  • Wet his hair first, then gently rub his head with a soapy sponge in a rhythm that matches the melody you’re singing. It will clean his hair and scalp while also making your child happy.
  • There will be soft patches on the top of the head, and it is important not to push too firmly on them.
  • Additionally, make certain that the restroom is clean and comfy. The temperature should be warm, and you should have everything you need to give him a bath and wash his hair nearby. You should never leave the infant alone.
  • Wet his hair, then take some shampoo and massage it between your fingers before applying it to his head, making sure it reaches the scalp.
  • Give your child his favourite bath toy or start singing a song with him to make it seem like a nice pastime if he starts pushing your hand around.
  • Allowing gravity to do the work of preventing water from entering the eyes is a simple solution. Lean your baby back slightly with your arms so that water drips from his back and does not reach his face.
