Malaysia is truly going to be one of the best shopping destinations after a new shopping mall is set to be built in the northern region in Prai on the mainland.

Penang-based developer, Belleview Group plans on building Malaysia’s largest shopping mall in Prai. It is reportedly set to be even larger than Mid Valley Megamall in Kuala Lumpur.
While Mid Valley measures 1.6 million sq ft (149,000 sq m) in nett space, the new shopping mall plans to be some 100,000 sq ft larger.
With a number of Malaysian malls already making the top 10 list of largest malls in the world, this new mall will definitely be one of the top runners on the list.
Penang’s largest shopping mall: Set to break a number of records
At a press conference, Datuk Sonny Ho, the managing director of the group said that this mall will have the biggest cinema complex in the country, with the cinema operator confirming a whopping 20 screens at the new mall.
“The mall will also have the biggest departmental store and hypermarket,” he added. “We are also going to build an ice-skating rink in the building.”
Work set to begin this year
Datuk Sonny Ho said the plans were still in on the drawing board but construction work is expected to begin this year end on a 6ha plot in Jalan Baru.
