Kuala Lumpur: 743 out of 6,668 students who sat for the UPSRA (Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah Agama) has obtained 7As in all the subjects this year in Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya.
According to Yaakob Abdul Rahim, the Deputy Director (Operations) of the Federal Territory Islamic Affairs Department (JAWI), this year’s passing percentage has increased to 93% compared to last year’s 88.9%.
When announcing the result last Tuesday, he also said, “479 candidates scored 6As on the exam. Compared to last year, the results this year is much better and this proves as a good sign after the development of the education system in the religious primary schools (SRA).”
“The al-Quran subject maintained 100% passes for 5 year in a row for all acandidates, 95% each for Tajwid and Akhlak, 91% for Tauhid and Arabic Language and 84% for Sirah,” said Yaakob.
3 schools with the best overall results were SRA Al Ghazali, Kepong; SRA Al-Suyuthi, Kampung Pandan; SRA Al-Ghufran, Pinggir Taman Tun Dr Ismail.
The exam was held simultaneously from October 6 to 13 in the Federal Territories.
Yaakob also stated that 2 more SRA schools in the federal capital will be upgraded to Sekolah Integrasi Rendah Agama Jawi (SIRAJ) in 2017. The schools to be upgraded are SRA Abdullah Ibnu Abbas, Pantai Dalam and SRA Abu Dzar al-Ghifari, Kepong.
“For year 2016, two schools involving 350 year one students will be the pioneers for SIRAJ. The schools are SRA Saidina Uthman bin Affan, Bandar Tun Razak and SRA Al-Alusi, Kampung Keramat.
SIRAJ is a combination of the Primary School Standard Curriculum with the Religious Primary School Curriculum. The schooling hours are from 7.30am to 4.00pm.
